Setter Hills Rye

Rye is a tri-colored male purchased from Preston Faust in Hiltons, VA. Rye was a New Years puppy in 1998! He is just over 60 lbs with nice leg. Rye's breeding comes from the heart of the Ryman line. Rye is very animated in the field and a kind, gentle companion in the home. He has an excellent nose and spends all his spare time out by the quail pen. Rye has sired several litters and is a proven producer of classic gun dogs. Rye's hips are certified GDC "Good" and has a perfect bite. Setter Hills Aspen

Aspen is Rye's full brother out of a repeat breeding. He weighs 60 lbs.and is very similar to Rye in conformation. He has a easy going personality and is a real clown. Aspen is very bold and was jumping off the dock retrieving dummies on his second trip to the lake. Aspen is quite the sportsman and has been known to wade in the river to point minnows! We're really excited about Aspen's strong pointing and retrieving instincts. Aspen has sired serveral litters to date, and is expecting a litter with Logan the 1st of the year. Aspen's pups tend to develop early and carry strong pointing and retreiving instincts. Aspen's hips are certified GDC "Good". Click here to see Aspen's pedigree.


Setter Hills Valor

We received Valor as a stud fee pup from Rye's first breeding to a gorgeous blue Ryman female owned by Randy Larson in Chetek, Wisconsin. Valor, like his dam Bess, is a heavily ticked blue belton with dark eyes and his dad's low ear set. Valor weighs 58 lbs. at five years of age. He is quite fine-boned for a male and has a very refined head with a perfect bite.To date, Valor has sired several litters within our own line as well as outside Ryman and Pinecoble bred females. Setter Hills Cooper

Cooper is a 58 pound lightly ticked orange belton male whelped in 6/2000 out of two of our finest gun dogs, Teal and Aspen. He is an energetic dog, beautifully gaited and possessing natural retrieving instincts like his sire. Cooper's hips are rated "Good" by the GDC, elbows normal and he has a perfect bite. Setter Hills Cooper was bred to Pinecoble Hannah and pups arrived at the end of October 2002. Elkhorn Ryman Tanner

Tanner is an exciting young male whelped in October of 2002 out of Pinecoble Hannah and Setter Hills Cooper. Tanner is a lightly ticked orange belton with deep brown eyes and full pigmentation. He is very talented in the field and has his sire Cooper's giftedness in the areas of pointing, backing and retrieving. Tanner has sired one litter for us with Setter Hills Tundra and we were very pleased with the resulting litter. Tanner hunts at 53 lbs. and has OFA good hips, normal elbows. Tanner has been bred to several of our females with excellent results. See his litter sister Henley on our female gallery page.

 


Setter Hills Noble

Noble is a young tri colored belton bred from Ryman lines in August of 2001. He is sweet natured like his sire Setter Hills Rye and is extremely affectionate. He has his Dad's "classic" good looks with low-set ears and pigmented eye rings. Noble is a moderately sized male, averaging 62-65 pounds as an adult. He has shown nice intensity on point and has a fine nose. Noble"s hips have been rated "Good" by OFA at 24 mos of age. Noble has sired multiple litters to date, three with our females, Autumn , Lexie and Abby and with several outside females from Ryman and Pinecoble lines. Setter Hills Quin

 

Quin is a orange belton male bred from the heart of the Ryman line. His dam, Hill's Ryman Jazz is a proven grouse and woodcock dog and his sire is Setter Hills Valor. Quin is an affectionate dog with a keen nose and strong desire to make game. He is an excellent retreiver and has been very impressive in the woods this season. Although he is a large dog , weighing 68 lbs at two years of age, Quin moves well , with a long, smooth stride. His littermates also did well in the field/woods their first season. Quin sired his 1st litter with our Setter Hills Skye and is very proud of his daughter, Setter Hills Sequoia. Quin's hips are rated OFA Good at 24 mos. of age.(Click here to see Quin's pedigree).

Heartland Hills Hunter

Hunter is a young blue belton male whelped 1-09-03 at Heartland Setters(Bill and Dianne St. John). Hunter's dam, Setter Hills Brooklyn was purchased as a pup by the St. Johns the summer of 2000 ,out of our Setter Hills Teal & Aspen. Hunter's sire is Pinecoble Cain, a heavily ticked orange belton with a suberb nose and sound temperment. Hunter is very intense for a young dog and is showing great natural pointing, as well as retrieving instincts. He has a very solidly built frame weighing 60 lbs at 38 mos. Hunter was bred to Logan and their 4 pups arrived the end of June of 06. He sired his 2nd litter of 11 pups with an outside female in July of 07. Hunter's hips are rated OFA Good at 24 mos.

 

Setter Hills Parker

Setter Hills Parker is an exciting young male whelped here at Setter Hills whelped 5/05 out of Holly and Cooper. He is a striking chestnut belton with full pigmentation. Parker is nicely gaited and hunts at 52 lbs. with a high head and tail. Parker had a fabulous fall and started figuring wild grouse out at a tender age. His hips are rated Good by OFA at 28 months. Setter Hills Gunner

Setter Hills Gunner is a lightly ticked 54 lb. orange belton male whelped the summer of 03 out of Setter Hills Teal and Pinecoble Jerry. Gunner has a delightful disposition and a keen nose which we're hoping will allow him to follow in his sire's pawprints of being a superior bird dog. Gunner's hips are rated OFA Good at 24 mos. and we hope to use him at stud with several of our females in the future.

Setter Hills Manton

Manton is a handome, orange belton male whelped in November of 2001 out of Setter Hills Huntress (Storm) and Pinecoble Jerry. Manton is a littermate to our Setter Hills Indy and Setter Hills Cass (pictured on our Scrapebook page). Manton is built much like his sire Pinecoble Jerry and weighs 58 lbs. He has an excellent nose and is extremely staunch on point. Manton has been hunted on grouse, woodcock, pheasants, quail and sharptails with positive results. His hips have been rated "Fair" by the OFA at 50 months. Manton sired his first litter at Setter Hills in 06 with Henley, producing 7 handsome pups.

Setter Hills Birch

Setter Hills Birch is as 55 lb., full-masked tri color male whelped in August of 2005. He is a friendly, energetic dog with strong natural insticts and a beautiful gait. Birch is heavily bred in the Ryman line, carrying Alder Run, Pine Coble and Old Hemlock blood in his pedigree. We are looking forward to gunning over Birch and hope to use him in our breeding program in the future. His hips are rated Excellent at 25 mos. of age by the OFA.

Setter Hills MaCoy

Setter Hills MaCoy is a heavily ticked blue maske male whelped in Nov.of 2005. Mac is a friendly, energetic dog that is showing strong potential in the field. Mac weighs fifty-eight and his hips are rated "EXCELLENT" by the OFA at 24 months. We are planning on breeding MaCoy to Setter Hills Autumn this late spring with pups due in June of 08. Setter Hills Flint

Flint is a young tri-belton male from our lines. His grandparents are: Setter Hills Noble, Abby, Teal and Pinecoble Jerry. Flint had an excellent fall and is showing nice potential in the field. We expect he'll reach 62 lbs. as an adult and will be xrayed for hip integrity in 11/08 at 2 yrs. of age.

SETTER HILLS RUFFWOOD SIRIES

Ruff is a handsome 60 pound orange belton male from a combination of Alder Run, Ryman/Old Hemlock and Pinewild lines. Whelped on 3/07/05, Ruff possesses a keen nose and is very staunch on point. He's been hunted on exclusively grouse and woodcock to date, but we're eager ro introduced him to Minnesota's wiley ringnecks. Ruff is extremely biddable, with a sweet, fun-loving temperment. He moves with a fluid gait and is a joy to watch work afield. Ruff's hips are rated "GOOD" by the OFA at 34 months and he has sired a fine litter of 8 pups with an outside female. SETTER HILLS TAG ALDER

Tag is a handsome, rusty orange roan male from a blend of the old Ryman and Pinecoble lines. He is a solidly built 58 lbs. at one year of age. Tag is very bidable around home and in the field and loves to hunt for the gun. He is a sweet natured setter with a fluid gait and strong natural instincts. Tag's hips have been rated preliminary "GOOD" by the OFA at 12 months. Email for pedigree information.
